Memorial Courtyard
Alongside the Japanese Garden of Peace is the Memorial Courtyard.
The courtyard is ringed by beautiful old limestone walls that
date back to the 1800s and the early days of the old Nimitz Hotel.
These cut stone walls are now the Memorial Wall, and hold plaques
honoring the contributions of individuals, ships and units during
the war in the Pacific. A Memorial Wall
Plaque may be sponsored by an organization or family member
through a donation to the Admiral Nimitz Foundation.
The Veterans' Walk of Honor paves the path
around the courtyard. Namepaver bricks,
available for sponsorship, are inscribed tributes to units, ships
and individuals who served in the war and on the homefront.
Memorial Wall Plaques
We invite you to view images of our Memorial Wall. Click here to start.
Viewing the Memorial Wall is an impressive and
poignant experience for museum visitors. Over 1000 plaques line the
100 year old limestone wall surrounding the Memorial Courtyard.
Individuals, ships, or units from all United States and
Allied branches of service that served in the Pacific during WWII
may be honored on the Memorial Wall. Names may be sponsored by
friends, family and reunion association.
Plaques are solid
metal, photochemically etched and anodized with a dark bronze
background and silver text and detail. Photos and line drawings
reproduce well and are featured on many plaques. Marty Kaderli of
the Foundation staff will be happy to work with you to offer
suggestions for the wording and layout of a proposed memorial.
Your $350.00 donation to the Admiral Nimitz Foundation
will sponsor a 5”x7” plaque. The larger 20”x20” plaque may be
sponsored by a donation of $2,500.00. All donations are used
toward the further development of the National Museum of the
Pacific War.

Memorial Bricks
Your $100 donation will allow a name and message
to be engraved on a brick paver and placed in the Veterans
Walk of Honor at the National Museum of the Pacific War. The walk
is placed along the well-known Memorial Wall in the museum’s
beautiful courtyard.
There are three lines of engraving, each with fourteen spaces, available on the 4" x 8" paver. When the brick is engraved and installed, you will receive a certificate letting you know in which section of the walkway it can be located.
"A Salute" – If you'd like to sponsor a brick as a way of showing your financial support of the museum's efforts without specifying a particular veteran, the words " A Salute" can be engraved along with your name on the paver.
